Albert Augustus

April 2, 1925 — July 19, 2013

Albert A. Augustus, II died July 19th, 2013. He was a resident of Waite Hill, Ohio.

Albert was born in Cleveland and attended both University School of Shaker Heights and Choate School of Wallingford, Connecticut. He also received his education from The Rochester Institute of Technology, The Cleveland College of Western Reserve University and the Alexander Hamilton Institute of Modern Business.

Albert served in the US Army air Corps from 1943 through 1946.

Albert became associated with Ball, Burge and Kraus as a Registered Representative in 1950 and was admitted as a General Partner in 1953. He was Managing Partner from 1964 to 1970 and Senior Partner from 1970 to 1973. Albert became Chairman of the Board of Prescott, Ball and Turbin in July of 1973 as the result of the merger of Ball, Burge and Kraus and Prescott, Merrill, Turbin & Company. In 1975 he became a Limited Partner.

Albert has served on the boards, or as a trustee, to Robinson-Ransbottom Pottery Co., Kilroy Co. of Texas, The Association of Stock Exchange Firms, and was a member of The 50 Club of Cleveland and The Cleveland Society of Security Analysts.

He was an Honorary Life Member of The Greater Cleveland Council of The Boy Scouts of America, a former President, Treasurer and current Trustee Emeritus of the Cuyahoga Valley Preservation & Scenic Railway Association and a Member of the Corporation of Hathaway Brown School of Shaker Heights.

In 1978, Albert ran the REVCO Marathon in four hours and twenty-eight minutes!

Albert is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth A. Augustus (nee Hurlock). He was the dear father of Wendy A. Augustus (George Parker) of Deerfield, IL; Ellsworth Hunt Augustus of Coral Gables,FL; Diane H. Augustus of Moreland Hills, OH and Linda E Augustus of Pepper Pike, OH; the dear grandfather of six and dear brother of Peggy Augustus of Keswick, VA.

The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in his name to The Boy Scouts of America, Greater Cleveland Council, 2241 Woodland, Cleveland, OH 44115 or The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, PO Box 158, Peninsula, OH 44264.

Private family graveside services will be held in Waite Hill Cemetery.
