Alison Jean Whitney

Alison Whitney was born on October 14, 1971, in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, to Thomas and Helen Rathburn. She had one younger sister, Molly. Alison grew up in a loving and supportive family, and she was always close to her parents and sister.

Alison had a lifelong love of music, and she played the bassoon with the Strongsville Community and Solon Community bands for over 20 years. She was also a talented track athlete running hurdles for Olmsted Falls High School. Alison was also involved in many extracurricular activities, including the Marching band and theater.

After graduating from Olmsted Falls High School, Alison attended Baldwin Wallace University, where she studied English literature. She also met her future husband, John, at Baldwin Wallace.

After college, Alison received her master's degree in literature from Bowling Green State University. She then went on to work as a technology writer, documentation specialist, and technical trainer.

Alison and John were married in 1996, and they had one child, Haiden, in 2005. Alison was a devoted wife and mother, and her family was her top priority.

Alison was also passionate about travel and loved Walt Disney World. She became very interested in the history and artistry of the Disney Parks. She and her family took many trips to Disney World over the years, and she created many happy memories there with her loved ones.

Alison was a kind, compassionate, and loving person. She was always willing to help others, and she was always there for her friends and family. Alison was a true inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Alison will be deeply missed by her husband, John, her son, Haiden, her parents, Tom and Helen, her sister, Molly, her in-laws,  Kathy and Dave Barber. and her entire extended family and her circle of friends.

Those who wish may make contributions in her name to Baldwin Wallace University.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 4th at 2 pm at Baldwin Wallace University, Kulas Hall, Gamble Auditorium, 96 Front St., Berea, OH 44017. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 1 pm to 2 pm.
