Andee Markham

January 3, 1921 — January 5, 2013

Andree Marguerite Chevalier Markham was born in Paris, France January 3rd, 1921. She was raised lovingly by her Mother, Leonie Meyer. At sixteen Andree was accepted in the Comedie Francaise Academy where she performed with the celebrated actors and directors of Paris at that time. Andree relished a life in the theatre, but one evening during World War Two, Andree was waiting for a blind date at a bus stop when she started conversation with an American Solider who had been wounded and awarded a Purple Heart at the Battle of the Bulge. Lorne Markham, from Northern Wisconsin, was waiting for his blind date as well. Neither of their dates showed up. Lorne and Andree strolled away together that night and spent the rest of their lives in love. Dee left the theater, married and moved to the United States to begin raising a family of 4 children, the loves of her life. Lorne's service and international business moved them around the world in the following years, from Wisconsin to Panama, Canada to France, and back to the US. She loved to travel and met these changes with grace and a spirit of adventure.Reunited with Leonie during the raising of her family, Andree made sure her children would understand the power of their hearts. By her daily practice of unconditional love, Dee embodied love in everything she did or thought. All the time. She believed in freedom of the heart and the soul. She read the works of the Great Mystics and lived devoted to God. We will all miss this special woman. Even in her final days, she would always kiss the hands of her care workers. Andree lived her life in love. She taught us all that it can be done. In deep gratitude for being around her light, we are; Manfred Markham and his wife Cheryl, Jerry Markham and his wife Jan, Rick Markham and his wife, Joanne, and Marie Hershman and her husband, Cliff. She is also survived by her dear grandchildren; Kerri, Sarah, and Krissy, Jennifer and Christy, Jake, Brandon, and Anneli; and her great grandchildren, Maria, Kylie, and Gracie, Madison, Stevie, and Gavin, Danny Jr. and Matthew, Kyler, Owen and Maya. Donations may be made in her name to The Lakeland Animal Shelter, 3551 State Rd. 67, Delevan, Wisconsin, 53115. Family services will be held in Wisconsin.
