ANGELA M. "INGIE" KILROY (nee McCrory), Age 85, of Shaker Hts., OH, beloved wife of the late Edward A. "Ted" Kilroy Jr.; dear mother of Mari A. "Missy" Kilroy (John U. "Jay" Moorhead), of New York City, NY, Michael B. Kilroy (Maureen), of Chesterland, OH, Gregory T. Kilroy, of Bainbridge Twp., OH, William S. Kilroy, II (Anne), of South Russell, OH, and the late Edward A. Kilroy, III (Linn); grandmother of eight; dear daughter of the late Charles F. and Mary B. McCrory; sister of Mary Perme, Charles McCrory, Margaret Rose Foley, and Walter McCrory.
One of Ingie's first memories was watching the water rise during the Johnstown flood from her grandparent's home. They were forced to the 3rd floor with candles and can goods and watched their home across the street being finally submerged. A rowboat took them to the Incline to escape. After that, Ingie could handle pretty much anything that came her way with aplomb and grace. She transferred from the Southmont High School in Johnstown PA in the middle of her Junior Year to Beaumont and was elected Senior Class President. She followed in her mother's footsteps and attended Trinity College in Washington DC. She studied political science which began a lifelong keen interest in politics. Ingie established a writing scholarship at Trinity in her mother's name.
Ingie had a sharp and curious mind. She loved the arts, history, and was an ardent sports fan. There isn't a plantation or historical monument between Cleveland and Florida that Ingie did not take her children to visit while delivering a riveting history lesson. Ingie was a member of the Women's Council of The Cleveland Museum of Art since 1971, she was a trustee from 1978-2000 and a Life Trustee from 2000 to the present. Ingie was a member of and a past President of the Shaker Lakes Garden Club. She served on the Executive Committee of the Friends of American Arts at Yale and the Governing Board of the Yale University Art Gallery.
With her husband of 60 years, Ted, Ingie loved looking at the water. She was happiest sitting with her family on The Kimari or looking out at the ocean from her home in Florida. And Ingie loved children. She never met a baby she didn't like. She adored her grandchildren and loved having bragging rights. She will be greatly missed by her loving family
