BARBARA G. GUTMANN (nee Griffith) age 82 died March 29, 2014 in Vero Beach, FL.
Mrs. Gutmann was a resident of Vero Beach and was formerly from Moreland Hills, OH.
Mrs. Gutmann attended Denison University and was a member of Alpha Phi Beta Kappa Sorority. She graduated from Mather College part of Western Reserve University. She was an English and Drama teacher and received her Master's degree from John Carroll University.
Mrs. Gutmann also was a member of the Panhellenic Council. She was President of several organizations both in Cleveland, OH and Nashville, TN where she also resided for 10 years. She was active in Red Cross, Traveler's Aide, Cleveland Clinic Women's Health, Garden Club and many other charity organizations.
She was an avid golfer and was a member of Richland Country Club, Shaker Heights Country Club, and The Moorings Golf Club. She was also on the Board at the Moorings in Vero Beach. On June 16, 2014, she would have been married to her husband for 60 years.
She is survived by her husband Phillip W. Gutmann, son Kirk Gutmann, daughter Jill Massey and her husband Terence; Her brother Bill Griffith and sister-in-Law Nancy; granddaughters Jaclyn Triplett and her husband Louis, Kristin Gutmann, Barbara Gutmann, and Jillian Massey; Grandsons, Alexander and Zachary Massey.
The family requests that memorial contributions may be made in her name to the McKee Botanical Gardens in U.S. 1 Vero Beach, FL 32962 ( www.mckeegarden.org )
The family will receive friends 1-2 PM, Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church in Vero Beach with a funeral service beginning at 2 PM.
