Bruce M. Listerman, age 71, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 from complications of esophageal cancer. Bruce is survived by his wife of nearly 44 years, Elizabeth nee Carpenter. Father to daughters Kristin L. Indge Thomas Indge, Leominster, MA and Elizabeth H. Listerman Jonathan Giglio, Belmont, MA and grandfather to Katherine E. Giglio. Brother of Randall W. Listerman Layne and Joyce L. Martin Eugene. Bruce graduated from University School in 1955 and Williams College, 1959. He earned an advanced degree in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management in Phoenix, AZ and later an MBA from Wharton School of Finance, Philadelphia, PA. Pursuing a career in international business came naturally to Bruce as he lived and worked in both Sweden and Mexico, as well as traveled extensively for pleasure throughout his life. While working from 1966 - 1979 for Corning Glass Works, Bruce became General Marketing Manager in charge of Latin American/Asia-Pacific. He later worked for Anderson International and Picker International and then worked in the travel business. Bruce served on the boards of the Urban Community School, the Shaker Lakes Nature Center, and was President of the University School Alumni Council. Bruce was a member of Leadership Cleveland, Class of 1981. Burce espoused the Rotary Club's principle of "Service above Self", and since joining the Club he has achieved perfect attendance - a period of 28 years. He served as the President of the Cleveland Rotary Club 1992 - 1993 as well as the Shaker Heights Rotary Club 2001 - 2003. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of the organization. In retirement Bruce took up the sport of curling with enthusiasm and was thrilled to be a part of the United States Rotary Club team to play against Canada and Scotland in their respective countries. He served as President 2006-07 of the Great Lakes Curling Association, a regional governing body. He curled at the Cleveland Skating Club, Mayfield Curling Club and the Cape Cod Curling Club. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21 at 3:30 pm at the Federated Church in Chagrin Falls with a celebratory reception following at the Cleveland Skating Club from 5 to 7 pm.
