CARL J. ALLENDORF, the beloved son of the late Alberta Rose "Birdie" and Carl H. Allendorf, passed away December 16th, 2013.
Carl was a 1963 graduate of Shaker Heights High School and Carnegie Mellon University in 1967, where Carl earned a Civil Engineering degree and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Carl joined the US Air Force in 1967 and rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel by the time of his retirement in 1973. Carl also served in the Arizona and Ohio National Guards. Carl used his engineering degree to be one of the early developers of the "Green Technology" pertaining to solar panels. He developed companies in both Arizona and the Cleveland Area.
Carl's main hobby was flight related, too. He was an avid model airplane enthusiast and he was the past president of the local Model Airplane Club, operating out of the Garfield Heights Civic Center.
After his father's passing in 1996, Carl was devoted to his dear mother, Birdie's, care and concerns. His mother passed away in 2010.
Those who wish may make contributions in his name to any animal rescue facility of your choice.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 20th, at 11 AM, in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 12601 Shaker Blvd., two blocks West of Shaker Square.
Interment Knollwood Cemetery.
