Carol S. Lindow

Carol S. Lindow (nee Storms), age 83 of Shaker Hts., OH, passed away August 31, 2023. The beloved wife of William O. Lindow, Sr. for 59 years; the loving mother of William O. Lindow, Jr. (Mary) of Hudson, OH; Cheryl L. Lindow of Sagamore Hills; and dear grandmother of Katelyn and Morgan Lindow.  Carol is preceded in death by her sister, Janet Lecky (Hugh); her mother Evelyn Storms; and father Harold Storms.

Carol was born and raised in Shaker Hts., OH and graduated from Shaker Hts. High School.  She went on to graduate from Miami University in 1962 with a Bachelor in Science in Education. She earned her Master’s degree in Education from Cleveland State University. She spent her entire career in education teaching in Maple Hts., Warrensville Hts. and Solon. She had a positive impact on countless elementary students during her 35 plus years of teaching. Her interest in education extended beyond the classroom as she served on the Board of Directors of the Solon School Employees Federal Credit Union, including time as President.  Carol was also actively involved in labor negotiations on behalf of the teachers’ union.

Despite both going to Shaker Hts. High School, it took a blind date to bring Carol and William together. They were married on June 20, 1964 and spent their entire married lives in Shaker. Their children followed them through the Shaker Schools and both went on to graduate from Carol’s alma mater, Miami University. Always the teacher, Carol enjoyed spending time with her two granddaughters creating unique crafts and baking family favorites.

Over the years, Carol and William formed a wonderful circle of friends through their involvement in bowling leagues, bridge groups and their investment club. Following retirement, they became active travelers enjoying the many natural wonders to be found throughout the country and searching for oil lamps to add to the extensive collection. More recently, they took relief from Ohio winters by spending them in Florida.

Carol was an avid artist. Her talents included painting, cross stitch, ceramics, sculpting, sewing, macrame and drawing. She was most happy when working on a project. Her home is a testament to her skill with beautiful paintings, cross stitch and ceramics displayed throughout.  Carol also enjoyed spending time outside tending to her garden and growing a wide variety of plants and flowers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106.
