Dolores Witzler
May 9, 1935 — June 15, 2014
Dolores "Dee" Witzler, age 79, passed away on June 15, 2014 after a ten year courageous battle with cancer. Born in Perrysburg, OH to Norman and Marcena (Hobart) Witzler. Beloved sister to Earl (Phyliss) Witzler, Margaret Furlong, Marilyn Hovorka and Joyce (David) Walker and the late James Witzler, M.D. Adored aunt of Norman (Maggie) Witzler, Sally (Jon) Whitbeck, Brian Witzler, Elizabeth Witzler, Erika (David) Bambauer, Terri (Darren) Keffury, Molly Hovorka, Jennifer Jones, Jonathon Furlong and Karen Walker. Loving great aunt to Walker Buehler, Bella Walker, Zachary and Nicholas Keffury, Hannah and Jacob Jones. Dee is also survived by her longtime very dear friend, Patricia Van Dellen.
Every acquaintance had a special interaction with Dee that was educational, memorable or just plain fun. Dolores graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1953, Hiram College in 1957 and later earned a Masters Degree in education from Cleveland State University. She was a devoted, talented teacher for many years in Warrensville Hts. and Cleveland Hts. She inspired and challenged her students and was a mentor to many young teachers. In retirement Dee immersed herself in charity work, spending many hours making unique crafts for fundraisers. She was known as the "Pickle Lady" in the Carmelite Guild for her awesome pickles and created the "Monastery Mustard", all to be sold for the benefit of this group.
Dee played a very active role in the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland Area and strongly supported The Walk for Hunger. She kept close to her very special "Hiram Girls" for almost 60 years, including summer vacations at Myrtle Beach for many years and sharing each other's joys and sorrows. May those who knew Dee have great memories, hopefully with a good laugh too. She will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 27th at 11:30 AM at Landerhaven, 6113 Landerhaven Dr., Mayfield Hts., OH.
