Donald Kuhn, age 83, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, at Judson Park, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Dorothy. Born on May 5, 1941, in Avon, Ohio, Don was a cherished husband, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Kuhn. Don is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy K. Kuhn (nee Kessler); his sister, Gretchen Hart of Chesterland; and his nieces, nephews, and cousins, who all held a special place in his heart.
A proud Navy veteran, Don was a helicopter electrician for four years during the Viet Nam War on the USS Hornet. Don received a business degree from John Carroll University. He devoted much of his professional life to the Cleveland Clinic, where he worked as an accountant for 17 years. His career was marked by his dedication and work ethic, qualities that defined his approach to all aspects of life.
Outside of work, Don had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, canoeing, and bird watching, passions he shared with others throughout his life. Don was a brass player in his high school band and loved to sing. An avid gardener, he was a longtime member of the Holden Arboretum, having joined in the early 1970s. He also gave his time to his church community, actively participating in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and to his fellow residents at Judson Park, where he participated in many committees. Don's warmth and kindness made him a beloved figure at Judson Park and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Known for his thoughtfulness, strength, and determination, Don was a man of quiet resolve. Though he was short in stature, his physical strength was legendary—he was an early riser who never missed his daily workout, often waking up at 4 a.m. to keep his routine. His discipline and commitment to health were an inspiration to those around him.
A celebration of life service will be held. Friday, March 28th at 3:00 p.m. in the Auditorium at Judson Park Retirement Community, 2181 Ambleside Dr., Cleveland, OH 44106. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Don’s memory to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 2747 Fairmount Blvd, Cleveland Hts., Ohio 44106 or The Judson Foundation 2181 Ambleside Dr, Cleveland, Oh 44106.
Don's life was a testament to his love for others, his quiet strength, and his unwavering commitment to those he held dear. He will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the joy he brought to the lives of everyone he touched.
