Donald Strachan

DONALD MAFFETT STRACHAN, age 91. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 24, 1923, and passed away in the presence of family on Sunday, November 2, 2014. Loving husband for 50 years of the late Suzanne (nee Merion). Donald is survived by his dear brother Harry M. Strachan. He is also survived by his adoring children William M. Strachan and Paul W. Strachan, and his adoring grandchildren Suzanne Strachan and William M. Strachan, II.

Donald graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was a decorated veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army 75th Infantry Division. Following the war he began his career as an accountant with Ernst & Young in Cleveland and advanced to become the company's Managing Partner in Charleston, West Virginia. He later returned to Cleveland and served as the Chief Financial Officer of McGean-Rohco Inc. prior to retiring. Donald was active in The City Club of Cleveland and was a member of Chagrin Valley Country Club.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland OH 44110. Memorial Services will be held at Federated Church, 76 Bell Street, Chagrin Falls, OH 44022 at 11am on Saturday, November 15th. Inurnment, Knollwood Cemetery.
