She will be deeply missed and held in hearts by peers and family.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio,

Dee began her education at Hathaway Brown School, outside of Cleveland, and continued in Connecticut at Westover School before obtaining a degree from Smith College. Her passion for skiing led her to begin her career as a writer for Ski Magazine, for which she ultimately became Managing Editor. She continued her passion for the sport by becoming a ski instructor in Aspen, CO, where she gave lessons to both the able and disabled. Dee was an art enthusiast, a passion sparked by the art collections of her father and stepmother, Burton G. and Emily Hall Tremaine. An avid traveler, she explored destinations all over the world. Dee shared her knack for travel with her family by frequently organizing family trips packed with activities and educational opportunities; these trips serve as fond memories for all the family that were so often in her company.

The end years of Dee's life were spent as a philanthropist. Her efforts included her role as a founding board member and Chairman of the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation in Connecticut, which for over 20 years has supported advancements in the arts, the environment, and learning disabilities. She also supported medical research at University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH, as well as the curation and collection of art at many institutions and museums, including The Cleveland Museum of Art (Cleveland, OH), Society of the Four Arts (Palm Beach, FL) and The Norton Museum (West Palm Beach, FL).

Dee lived a long and fulfilling life of professional occupation, leisurely interest, travel, and philanthropy. Most importantly, she pursued what she loved. The example she set for elegance, modesty, and making the most of every moment will be her legacy and forever admired by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, Dee requested that donations be made to the D. Tremaine Hildt Endowment Fund at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center: PO Box 74947 Cleveland, OH 44194-4947. Donations also possible through www.uhgiving.org or by phone at 216-983-2200.
