EDWARD T. CUNNEEN passed away March 18th, 2013.
Ed was the beloved husband of the late Mary Louise Cunneen (nee Ierg) and the dear father of Catherine A. Moore of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Patrick J. Cunneen of Denver, CO and the late William Edward Cunneen, dear grandfather of Brendan Moore, Andrew Moore (Brianne), Ted Cunneen and Katelyn Cunneen and dear great grandfather of Stella Jane Moore.
Ed was a graduate of John Carroll University and completed Advanced Marketing courses at The University of Pennsylvania Wharton School.
He served in The United States Army from 1943 to 1945.
Ed began his career working for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company in Cleveland. He started as a Directory Sales Representative and worked his way up through the company as an Area Manager to Assisting the Vice President in the Executive Operations Department and becoming General Manager. After retiring from Ohio Bell he spent his time consulting and volunteering.
He worked with several consulting companies performing counseling services to client companies and assisting clients with job placement and he helped organize the PGA Senior Tour at Canterbury Golf Club as a Sports Consultant for Ameritech, Chicago (Ameritech Senior Open).
He also volunteered for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Cleveland which aims at recruiting men and women over fifty five to volunteer their services to non profits. It was through RSVP where Ed started the Books for Kids program. It was his goal to make sure every child could read.
Ed was a long time resident of Beachwood and served as councilman from 1963 to 1965. He enjoyed golf and skeet shooting and loved to travel abroad.
The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in his name to The Carmelite Sisters, 3176 Fairmount Blvd., Cleveland Hts., OH 44118. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday April 2nd at 10 AM in The Church of St. Dominic, 19000 Van Aken Blvd. (at Norwood Rd.), Shaker Hts., OH.
Interment Calvary Cemetery.
