Taudie Dalton Simon, beloved wife, devoted mother and grandmother passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 15 in her home in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She was 87. Taudie was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1924- the fourth child of five. Following her older sister Marjory Dalton into the music world, she toured the nation with the Jimmy Palmer Orchestra before returning to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she met and married her husband, Bill. From Tulsa, they attended and graduated from the University of Colorado, then went abroad to Fontainebleau, France, where Taudie studied voice. They moved to New York City in 1954 where Taudie worked for NBC-TV before moving to Montclair, NJ to raise a family. They resided at 37 Watchung Avenue for 49 years. Taudie devoted her life to family and church, and was the children's choir director at the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green for 26 years. A performing member of the Montclair Music Club, she was recognized for 55 years of service and dedication by the club in 2011. She also worked in the Montclair Public School system as an elementary school librarian for 23 years. Taudie is survived by her husband William, children Todd and Reed and their wives Susan and Sandy; her grandchildren Rebecca, Lydia, Julia, and Peter; and her only surviving sibling - William Dalton - who is still living in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Taudie was predeceased by her sisters Evelyn and Marjory, and her brother Jack. A memorial service is being planned but there are no details at this time.
