Frances Sgro

FRANCES M.G. SGRO

January 4, 1925 - July 18, 2016

Frances M.G. Sgro (née Savoca) was the beloved wife of the late Albert J. Sgro for 58 years;
dear mother of Valentina Sgro (Carl Cormany); dear grandmother of Edward Sgro Cormany
(fiancée Jennifer Fischell), dear sister of Antonio Savoca (Charlene), Phyllis Longano (Arthur),
Adeline Ford (James), Geraldine Basar (George, deceased), and the late Sam (Jessica,
deceased) and Litterio Savoca; and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Fran was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from John Adams High School in January
1943. After serving as an aircraft inspector during World War II, she attended Western Reserve
University, pursuing a course of study in business.

Fran was happiest when she was helping others. Over the years she volunteered extensively for
the Shaker Heights Public Schools, the Girl Scouts, the St. Vincent Charity Hospital Thrift
Corner, and the Cleveland Bonsai Club.

Fran and Al combined their faith and love of family, along with Fran's excellent cooking, to host
large Christmas gatherings of relatives and friends for more than 40 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial gifts to The Church of St. Dominic or the
Cleveland Botanical Garden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church, 19000 Van
Aken Blvd., Shaker Heights, OH 44122, Saturday, August 13, at 10:30 AM. FRIENDS MAY
CALL AT THE CHURCH ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE MASS. Entombment will immediately
follow at Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland, OH.
