Frank C. Manak, III

Frank C. Manak III, born on June 18, 1937, passed away on October 4, 2024, at 87 years old in Hudson, Ohio. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Manak, and their children: Charles Manak, Christine Edmonds, and Noel Petty (married to Christopher Petty). Frank grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended University School. He furthered his education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Case Western Reserve Law School, studying Engineering and Law.

Frank had a distinguished career as a patent attorney and, later in life, was an adjunct law professor at Kent State University. He worked for General Tire, now known as Continental Tire, and also served as president of the Cleveland Patent Law Association from 1983-84. Frank was also deeply committed to his community, volunteering for the Hudson Emergency Medical Service as an ambulance driver, Hudson Garden Club, and OPEN M Akron.

He was an active member of First Congregational Church of Hudson for over 45 years, serving as church historian, choir member and deacon. He was also a cub scout leader and girls' softball coach. Frank was the son of Frank and Frances Manak and the brother of Mary Ward. He was a proud grandfather to Anton Manak, Arielle Manak, Matthew Edmonds, Hannah Edmonds, Eric Edmonds, Quinn Petty, and Abigail Petty.

Among his many accomplishments, Frank was the MIT radio station manager, an active tennis player, and authored a book titled American Freedom. He had a passion for genealogy and also enjoyed trips to Europe with his wife Patty. Frank had many hobbies including using his home movie camera to document family events, bike riding adventures, and having breakfast with his group of "ROMEOS” (Retired Old Men Eating Out).

Frank was most proud of his children and their families and cherished being married to Patty for over 60 years. His legacy of love, dedication, and community service will be remembered by all who knew him.
