Harvey Neville

HARVEY EVERETT NEVILLE Passed away November 1st, 2011 at the Judson Retirement Community. Harvey was born in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1936. He went on to graduate from Case Institute of Applied Science with a BS in mechanical Engineering in 1940. He was a Phi Kappa Psi and Blue Key Honor Society. Harvey was listed in "Who's Who Amoung Students in American Universities and Colleges" for 1938 & 1939. Harvey went to work as a General Works Manager for Cleveland Pneumatic Tool Co. right out of school and was with the company until 1955. In 1955, he went to work for North American Manufacturing Company as Executive Vice President, and started the Controls Division in 1957. He was with the company until 1999. In 1937, Harvey and his brother, Robert, toured Europe by single speed bicycles, traveling 2, 100 miles, staying at youth hostels or in hay stacks! After he retired, Harvey published "Travels with my Brother", his remembrances of that trip along with original postcards they sent home from Europe. Harvey was a member of Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights and served as a Deacon. Harvey spent most of his retirement researching a comprehensive family genealogy, which he published in 2002 as "The Claude John Neville and Related Families." Harvey was the beloved husband of Joanne W. nee Whited, whom he married in Fairmount Church in October of 1947, the dear father of Susan Proos James, Deborah Neville, Harvey Neville, Jr., Pamela Neville-Sington David and the late Mary Ann Neville. He was the dear grandfather of Jamie Maas Jason, C.J. Proos Amy, Pamela Peters Geno, Peter Proos Kim, Kate Donovan Mike and Joanne Proos and the dear great grandfather of Andrew, Elizabeth, Rachel and John Maas, Cameron and Joseph Proos and Francie Peters; dear brother of the late Robert J. Neville Ruby and Francis W. "Babe" Neville Sally of Chagrin Falls. The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in his name to Fairmount Presbyterian Church, 2757 Fairmount Blvd., Cleveland Heights, OH 44118 where Memorial Services will be held, Monday, November 7th at 2 PM. Family interment services will be in Lake View Cemetery.
