Jack Leondas Brown, Jr. age 75 of Shaker Heights, passed away Saturday, January 26. He was a wonderful husband, caring father and fun loving grandfather. He shared his great stories, quick smile and infectious laugh with many throughout his years: from his classmates at Shaker Heights High school to the recipients of the creative fruit baskets he made at Chandler & Rudd, the business acquaintances he sold to as an industrial chemical broker for Intex, the happy householders who benefited from his design talents while he owned California Closets, his friends who enjoyed and envied his creativity, especially at Christmas, and everyone who ever heard and saw him tell the wide mouth frog story, and in the last few years the neighborhood he supervised with his beloved dog, Daisy, the friends he made while at Kemper House, especially the ladies he helped on and off the bus.
But no one loved him more than his wife, Mebby, Marilyn E. Klein, his daughter Suzanne Brown Fridlund, her husband Erik Gunnar Fridlund and his grandchildren, William St. John and Katherine Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sister, Sally Brown Good Alan Compton Good, Sr. of Philadelphia and in-laws, nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack L. Brown, Sr. and Louise Matchett Brown, and his sister, Marjorie Brown Sheldon.
Donations in his memory may be made to The Cleveland Zoological Society, 3900 Wildlife Way, Cleveland, Ohio 44109, Great Lakes Theater, 1501 Euclid Avenue #300, Cleveland, Ohio 44115 or Church of the Saviour, 2537 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118 where a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 25 (Memorial Day weekend) at 10:30 AM.
