“Honor thy Father and thy Mother that thy days may be long upon the land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” Exodus 20:12
James E. Tell, Sr. was born on November 7, 1942 to Sallie Mae Tell and Jessie Tell in Montgomery, AL. At the age of 17, he moved to Cleveland, OH. His first job was at Automated Finishing. He then went into construction shortly after. He retired from construction as a labor worker from asphalt in 2008.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. Many people who knew him, knew him as a strong, loving man. His strength was untouchable. He embraced everyone with loving arms even though he could be a handful at times, but it only came from the heart and soul which we all loved.
He will be greatly missed and will live forever in our hearts. We will cherish the memories and moments spent together until we meet again.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Tell and Sallie Mae Tell; his wife, Gloria Tell and another wife, Emma Tell; his sisters Emma James, Rosie Jackson, Rebecca Brown, Ethel Mae and Roberta Harris; his brothers William Arthur, Eugene Tell and Aaron Tell; and children Noretha P. Woods, James D. Tell and Doreen L. Atwell.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his children, Paula Jo Woods, Lynell Tell, Jessica Mallett, Suprina Tell and James E. Tell, Jr., siblings Jessie Tell Harris, Janie Bozeman, Willie C. Milton Bennett and Jose Tell and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other family and friends.
