Jance Reynolds was born in Chicago, IL on May 5, 1950, the son of Joe and Johnny Mae Reynolds. Schooled in Chicago, IL, for his academic career, he ultimately graduated from Loyola University in 1972, with a degree in history. While at Loyola, Jance studied at the campus in Rome, Italy, where he traveled through Italy and Africa. He moved to San Francisco, where he earned his secondary teaching credential in Social Studies and English. Jance was an outsized personality with a sense of humor to match. He had an infectious laugh, ready wit and easy-going affability that attracted friends wherever he went. It paid off in business. He spent his career in retail, most recently as manager of fine designer jewelry at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beachwood Place Mall. Prior to Saks, he worked in Beverly Hills, where his Neiman Marcus colleagues honored him with the "NM Best" award, the company's most prestigious award. Jance was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Cleveland Heights, OH. He was a member of the Properties Committee for his whole tenure at Cedar Hill, and served as chairman for four of those years. He became a deacon in 2006, and served for five years. Known as "Uncle Jance" to most of the youth at the church, Jance served as the Youth Group Leader until his death. During his tenure as the youth group, he mentored dozens of young men and women, sharing his time, advice and common sense. Jance is survived by his wife, Yvette Reynolds, and their two daughters, Sarah Rose and Lauren Grace; his brother, Keith Reynolds of Atlanta, GA; sisters Sharyl Reynolds of Atlanta and Darrilyn Dishmanof Chicago, IL.;a host of nieces and nephews; his mother and father-in-law, Juanita and James Jett of Wickliffe, OH; and a host of extended church family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Brown-Forward Funeral Home, 17022 Chagrin Blvd., Shaker Heights, OH. A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Cedar Hill Baptist Church, 12601 Cedar Road, Cleveland Heights. A private interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, OH. The family prefers that those who wish make contributions in his name to Cedar Hill Baptist Church, 12601 Cedar Rd., Cleveland Hts., OH 44106.
