Jane Blake

October 13, 1931 — March 23, 2013

Jane (Janie) Blake was born Oct 13, 1931 to Agnes (Bernie) and Clarence Blake in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Janie was the third of six children with 2 sisters, Bernadette "Bunny" Hill (Robert) and Elizabeth "Betty" Blake, and 3 brothers, Clarence, Jr. "Jake" (Eileen), John (Kay)and Joseph (Jane Chaisson). She had 16 nieces and nephews. Janie's grandfather was a Great Lakes ship captain and her mother taught children with special needs.

Growing up, Janie attended Martin Hall in Rhode Island in 1940, St. Colletta's in Wisconsin from 1941 to 1945, St. Joseph's in Barrington, IL from 1947 to 1959, and then moved back to Ohio in 1960. She was a resident of Lorain County for over 30 years and was a long-time participant in the programs and workshops at Murray Ridge Center.

Janie loved music of all kinds, especially classical and church music. Growing up, she loved listening to the Victrola and the radio. She also enjoyed helping her mother with setting the table and putting away the laundry. Janie loved being read to, saying her prayers, and spelling. While Janie loved food of all kinds, her favorite was ice cream.

Janie was a resident of Keystone Pointe in LaGrange, Ohio since it opened. She and her family feel very blessed that she lived in such a beautiful place with such caring staff members.

The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in her name to The Alzheimer's Unit of Keystone Pointe, 383 Opportunity Way, LaGrange, OH 44050 or The Church of St. Dominic, 19000 Van Aken Blvd. (at Norwood Rd.), Shaker Hts., OH, 44122, where a Funeral Mass will be held, Saturday, April 6th at 11 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery
