Jane Floyd

Jane Curtiss Floyd of Shaker Heights, OH. and Hyannis Port, MA., died on March 20, 2009 at the age of 85. She had recently moved to Thirwood Place in South Yarmouth, MA. She was married for 50 years to the late Buchanan Floyd of Cleveland. Born in Cleveland, she was the daughter of Constance Calkins Curtiss and Henry Stiles Curtiss. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves three daughters, Eleanor Mayfied of Hyannis Port, MA., Cynthia Compagna and her husband Andre of Watertown, MA., Patricia Charman and her husband William of Wenham, MA., a son, Richard Floyd and his wife Maureen of Elgin, IL., a sister Constance Manuel and her husband Richard of Hunting Valley, OH., and was "Grammy" to seven grandchildren, Rick, Nina, John, Ben, Henry, Jinx and Will. She was predeceased in death by her son John Buchanan Floyd, Jr. Grammy was loved by all for her gentle demeanor; her hand-knit sweaters, her chocolate chip cookies, and her ability to make everyone in her presence feel welcome. She loved the seashore and her summer house was often filled with family, friends and their pets. Graveside burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland on Wednesday, March 25 at 11am. A reception at The Hunt Club in Hunting Valley will follow immediately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3300 East Sunrise Drive, Tuscon, AZ. 85718.
