Jane Pope Stauffer, age 80, died January 11, 2011 at the home of her daughter, due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. Jane was the loving mother of Barbara Michael of Canton, Ohio, Joan Walter of North Benton, Ohio, and Carol Gregory of Solon, Ohio. Jane was the grandmother "Nana" of Peter Laura, Lucas, Cameron and Christian and the sister of Alton R. Pope Jane of Lenexa, Kansas. Jane was the dear "Ma" of 'Tab' Teri of Ashland, Ohio, daughter Laura of the home, and son Dean Valerie of Baltimore, Maryland. She was a dear aunt to nephews, nieces and their families. Jane was a 1948 graduate of Shaker Heights High School and for 50+ years co-chaired the class reunion committee. Jane graduated from Ogontz Junior College in Pennsylvania. Jane was devoted to her family, extended family and friends. Jane began a long career in Real Estate Sales in 1966 and was a member of CABOR and Realtor Association. Jane served her community, most notably as Precinct Judge for the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. Throughout her life Jane volunteered her time and talents at her church and several community organizations. Jane served as a Girl Scout leader while her daughters were in the program. Jane enjoyed cross-stitch, needlework and knitting which she continued late into her life. Jane was very proud and supportive of her four grandsons, attending with enthusiasm many of their school functions and extracurricular activities. She shared with them her love for the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns and music. Jane was a very giving person, opening her heart and her home to family, friends and her daughter's friends. Jane was always there for those who needed her. Many were blessed by Jane's compassionate, consoling and caring spirit, especially those who were grieving. As a tribute to Jane who passed away January 11, 2011 a Service of Celebration will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Garfield Memorial United Methodist Church on 3650 Lander Road in Pepper Pike, OH 44124-5798. Please join the family afterwards for a reception at the church. Refreshments will be served. NOTE: During the Service of Celebration there will be an opportunity for family and friends to share memories of Jane. The family would appreciate hearing from those near and far who cannot attend.
