Jean Forrest

JEAN H. FORREST nee HalbergAge 78, died September 9th, 2010. Jean was the daughter of the late Carl William Halberg and Myrtle Sarns Halberg. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Arthur R. Forrest, who died in 1974. She was the dear sister of Selma H. McLaughlin the late Thomas D. of Chesapeake, Virginia; William S. Halberg Eda of Orange Village, Ohio and Elmer John Halberg Carole of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She was the dear friend of the late Merle Tagg for many years. Jean was also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Jean graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1949, where she played the clarinet in the marching band. She became a Registered Nurse after graduating from the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland and practiced her nursing in various capacities, until just recently. She began in the emergency room of Huron Road Hospital and worked and managed many doctors' offices throughout her career. She went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from The Ohio State University and used that knowledge in her office management and nursing practice. At OSU she became a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and the OSU Alumni Association. Jean was a member of Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights, United Church of Christ, and was an active member of its Women's Association and the famous "candy circle". Jean was a member of the Western Reserve-Lakewood Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution DAR. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in her name to Plymouth Church, 2860 Coventry Rd. at Weymouth Rd., Shaker Heights., Ohio 44120 where Memorial Services will be held in the Herr Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, September 14th at 1 PM.
