Jean Shenk

Jean M. Shenk, resident of Bentley Village of Naples, Florida, passed away July 7, 2011 after a short illness at Avow Hospice House, with her family at her side. She was born January 30, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio as Jean Treat Murtfeldt, the daughter of William S. and Barbara Treat Murtfeldt. She was a graduate of Hathaway Brown School and Sarah Lawrence College. She married Wilbur J. Shenk, Jr. in 1943 and raised three children, Sandra M. Shenk, Claire S. Rodgers and Charles M. Shenk in Cleveland, Ohio. She enjoyed golf, bridge and crossword puzzles and won the golf championship at The Country Club in 1948. In addition to her husband and her children she is survived by five grandchildren. She suggested that any memorial contributions be made to Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio 3500 Lorain Ave. #400, Cleveland, Ohio or in Naples to Planned Parenthood, 1425 Creech Rd., Naples, Florida 34103. A Memorial Service will be held at Wade Chapel of Lake View Cemetery on Saturday, August 6th at 11am. There will be a reception at The Country Club from 4:00 PM to 530 PM on August 6th.
