Jerome Thomas

Jerome (Jerry) A. Thomas, age 61, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away at Hospice of the Western Reserve on New Years Eve, 2015.  Jerry was born in Cleveland on March 11, 1954.  He attended Cleveland Schools and completed his education at Shaker Heights schools.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruby Thomas, sister, Debbie Jiles, and brother Martin C. Thomas.  Jerry is survived by his niece, Michelle Norvell, great-niece Brianna Norvell, sister-in-law, Mary Thomas, loving caretaker Beverly Moore, long time house mates, Nathaniel Scott and Phillip Edwards, and a host of other family and friends.  Jerry loved music, exploring around Cleveland, watching football and basketball,  and eagerly looked forward to visits with family and friends.  A Funeral Service for Jerry will be held at Brown-Forward Funeral Home, 17022 Chagrin Blvd., in Shaker Heights on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 11:00 am, with a viewing for family and friends from 10:30 am to 11:00 am.  The burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Gardens.

A sincere thank you to Pamela Cameron and the rest of the staff at Murtis Taylor Human Services for their many years of loving care and support to Jerry.  The family also wants to thank the doctors and staff at Metro Hospital, and Andrea and staff at Hospice of the Western Reserve for taking tender care of Jerry.

Jerry was a special soul, who met his many challenges with courage and strength.  Because he knew Jesus, as one family member stated, "He is now living the life he was meant to live!"
