John E. "Jack" Horner, age 95, born May 25, 1927, passed away November 13, 2022. He was a longtime resident of Aurora, Ohio.
Jack served in the Navy in WWII, attended Miami University and graduated from Case Institute of Technology. He spent his entire career with the Sam W. Emerson Co., culminating in becoming owner and chairman in the last 10 years of his 41 year career.
During and after his career in construction, he was involved in trade and professional groups, civic programs and organizations. He was past president of the Case Alumni Association, the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes and the Shaker Historical Society.
In 1995 he was elected to the Cleveland Engineering Society, Construction Division Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife Paula Horner (nee Reilly); son James A. Horner (Deborah) of Mentor, OH, daughters Patricia A. Takacs (Michael) of Hilliard, OH and Barbara J. Parks (Ted) of Milford, OH; grandfather of 6, Samantha, Sarah, Rachel, Matthew, Mason and Andrew; great-grandfather of 11, James, Teddy, Charlie, Mary, Lilly, Marielle and Clara, Eli and George, and Faith and Christian and his beloved dog, Bob.
The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in his name to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44106.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 342 S. Chillicothe Rd., Aurora, OH 44202 on Friday, December 2nd at 11 AM. Private family interment, All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH.
