Joseph P. DeMarco

Joseph P. DeMarco, He was born on September 4, 1943. He was the son of Helena and John.

He passed away on April 22, 2025.

His family moved from the Bronx to Queens when he was 15.

Joseph was the father of Lisa Caroline DeMarco Calamita and William John DeMarco. He was the grandfather of Isabella Sweet Calamita and Joseph Brian Calamita.

Joe attended St. Helena High school and graduated from Iona College.

After college, he attended the Pennsylvania State University, receiving his PhD in philosophy, in 1969. He met Bonnie and in 1967, they married in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania.

Joseph received his PhD in 1969. His first teaching job was at Tuskegee Institute. They moved there and he was selected head of the Philosophy Department.

In 1969, Lisa was born at John Andrew Hospital in Tuskegee Institute. In the same year Bonnie received her master's degree in Elementary Education.

In 1972, Joseph became a member of the Cleveland State University philosophy department. The family moved to Shaker Heights. Joseph was elected the head of philosophy at CSU.

Joseph enjoyed publishing books and articles in philosophy and was an early user of electronic media. Mainly based on his publications, he became a full Professor.

Bonnie was a full-time mother while Lisa and William were in elementary school. Afterwards, she returned to teaching. She loved her family and her career as a teacher.

After retirement, Bonnie and Joe continued to travel in the U.S. and Europe.

Joe enjoyed playing classical guitar.

There was no funeral service. He was buried in Lake View Cemetery in the family plot.
