Joseph Anthony Vero

Joseph Anthony Vero, a beloved husband and father, passed on March 13, 2023 after a lengthy battle with dementia.

Joe was born September 25, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio.  After graduating from St. Joseph High School, Joe proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He began working as an engineer at Towmotor Corporation while completing his degree in Engineering at Cleveland State University. In his youth, he was a competitive roller skater, spending hours at the roller rink where his father played organ and trumpet. He had a successful career working as an engineering manager at Towmotor Corp and Caterpillar prior to directing research and development at Daewoo Industries.

Joe was active in his community, volunteering at the Aurora Charter Commission, Rotary Club and  National Alliance of the Mentally Ill.  He also served on the Boards of the Portage County Mental Health and Recovery Board and Coleman Services. 

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Lillian Rose (nee Taylor) and Joseph Louis Vero. He was reunited with his wife of 59 years, Barbara, upon her passing on March 21, 2023.

He is survived by his sons Brandon, Creighton, and Ryan (Tamara); grandchildren Emily Isa, Bryce, Ryan Taylor, and Shea; his sister-in-law Margot (Gerald) Keith, and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

A joint memorial service for Joe and Barbara will be held on April 15 at 10 am at The Church in Aurora, 146 S. Chillicothe Rd, Aurora, OH 44202.
