Kathy Skerritt

February 6, 1957 — August 28, 2021

Kathy M. Skerritt  (nee Mead), age 64, passed away Saturday, August 28 after an 8-year struggle with breast cancer with G. Michael Skerritt her beloved husband of 36 years by her side.

The daughter of the late Lewis W. Mead and Margaret Kathleen "Kay" Mead (Blakeny), she was the sibling to sister Sheree Gaughan (Frank) and brother Gregory Lewis Mead (Connie). Kathy was the dear stepmother of Kim Coury, George Skerritt (Yvonne), Erin Birkinbine, John Skerritt (Brenda), Rachel Allen (David) and Stephanie Zampelli (Nathan); step-grandmother of 13 and step-great grandmother of 14;  She was also the beloved aunt of seven nephews.

Kathy holds a BA from Carnegie-Mellon University, a Masters in Organizational Development from CWRU, and just thesis-approval-short of a Doctorate from Ashridge College in London, England.  While always finding ways to make art, she also had a 14-year career in development (fundraising) with Cleveland Opera, CIM, Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT, Notre Dame College of Ohio and Oberlin University.

Kathy has had several art studios in the Greater Cleveland area, most recently at Article on Waterloo Road, and has participated in many NE Ohio art shows including at Old Stone Church and the City of Beachwood Civic Complex as well as the Javits Center in NYC.

The family prefers that those who wish to may make contributions in her name to The Pan Communion of Adidam Midwest (3301 W. Fullerton Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647), First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland (3760 Fairmount Boulevard, Shaker Hts, OH 44118) or Hospice of the Western Reserve (17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110).

A Celebration of Kathy’s life will be held at a later date subject to pandemic protocols.
