Kurt R. Rose was born July 26, 1939 in Vienna, Austria, the only child of Otto and Caroline Rose. The family moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1948, and Kurt began his education in the Cleveland school system, graduating from Shaw High School and Case Western Reserve University as an industrial engineer. He spent his career working at various Cleveland businesses, the last being his family’s business, Rose Metal Industries. In addition to his work, he enjoyed building and flying model air planes, sailing, listening to classical music, reading literature, and eating fine food. He was married to Carol Thut Rose (deceased), father of Susan Gerson, Thomas Rose (Lilly), and Scott Rose (Bonnie), grandfather of Max and Emily Gerson, Anna and Katie Rose, and great-grandfather of Gabby and Dylan Gerson. The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in his name to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank ( www.greaterclevelandfoodbank.org ).
