Lee Wilson Lockwood, age 97, passed away July 20, 2012. Lee was born in Minneapolis, and was raised in Cleveland. When she was a young girl, the Wilson family began the annual summer trips to Martha's Vineyard by car to visit a large entended family. She was married for 63 years to George S. Lockwood, Jr., who died in 2003. Lee was a devoted mother to Audrey, Nancy and George Lockwood, III. She enjoyed her six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and often entertained them at the family home at Martha's Vineyard. Lee graduated from Laurel School, Cum Laude, and from Wellesley College, having served as Class President of both. She spent her later years playing tennis, swimming, painting and collecting art by Cleveland and Martha's Vineyard artists. Lee was the last of her generation in Cleveland and at Martha's Vineyard. Her good nature, generosity and great appreciation for her family and many friends will be missed by all. A family service will be held at the Vineyard home. Memorial contributions can be made to Judson Retirement Community at 2181 Ambleside Rd., Cleveland, Ohio 44106, or to The Martha's Vineyard Hospital at P.O. Box 1477, Oak Bluffs, MA 02557.
