Louinia Mae Whittlesey of Bratenahl, OH, often declared she would dance at her great-grandchildren's weddings so her death at the young age of 89 comes as a shock to her family and dear friends.
She embraced life fully and enthusiastically, playing bridge, curling, volunteering at the Cleveland Museum of Art, and lovingly reading to her great-grandchildren until the very end of her life. Her greatest joys included spending time with family and friends at Higgins Lake, MI, where she enjoyed 77 glorious summers, the curling community, participating in the 2002 Olympics as a curling line judge, playing bridge as a Life Master seven times over, and her alma mater Smith College. She avidly read books, drank coffee, solved crossword puzzles in ink, and told you exactly what she thought on a wide range of topics.
Her energy and spirit lives on with her family and cherished friends. Mother of Robert H. Whittlesey II, David W. Whittlesey and the late Robin Lee Whittlesey-Feuer (Carl); grandmother of Catherine W. Comstock (Kevan), John W. Whittlesey (Gillian) and Aliya Zehara Feuer-Whittlesey; great-grandmother of Spencer, William and Avery Comstock; sister to Sue McKinley Tice and the late Charles W. and Robert H. McKinley; aunt to Charles W. McKinley IV, William T. McKinley (Susie), Laura H. McKinley (Richard), and Timothy I. McKinley (Pam).
