Marguerite Sherwin

May 14, 1942 — November 20, 2010

Marguerite Perkins Sherwin "Miggie" aged 68, died November 20, 2010 in the Cleveland Clinic after a heroic battle with Cancer. She was the proud mother of Marguerite "Muffi", Pam and Tim. Grandmother of Jessica, Nicholas and Charlie; Jake and Halle; Max, Oliver and Abby all located in the Cleveland Area. Big sister of Sandy, Wendy and Deri. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Miggie will be dearly missed by all. Her laughter and volunteerism are spread throughout Cleveland and Sanibel Island, Florida. She spent winters in Sanibel for the past 18 years where she was a member of The Nature Center on Sanibel SCCF.org, and a Countess in The Sanibel Ruby Mermaids Red Hats. Additionally, she was a member of the American Contract Bridge League reaching a level of "Sectional Master" with over 130 points. In Cleveland she served on the Board of Lawrence School and a trustee for 30 years. She was a member of the Shaker Lakes Garden Club since 1969. She served as the Conservation Committee Chairman for Ohio, Indiana and Michigan Zone 10 for the Garden Club of America, presenting in Washington D.C. for many years. She supported The Alzheimer's Association and wrote articles for them. She was also a member of the Cleveland Junior League, Intown Club, Investment Club and The Kirtland Country Club. She was a faithful Cleveland sports fan. Miggie attended Hathaway Brown School for many years. Graduated from Miss Hall's School in Pittsfield Mass; Earned her Associate in Arts from Briarcliff College; Bachelors in Arts from John Carroll University; MSSA from The Mandel School of Social Science at Case Western Reserve University; Paralegal degree from Lakeland Community College. Miggie was a strong, honest, loving person. She was a supportive sister, mother and friend. She would want those who wished to make contributions in her name to do so to Lawrence School, 1551 East Wallings Rd. Broadview Heights, Ohio 44147. A Celebration of Life will be held at Kirtland Country Club, 39438 Kirtland Road, Willoughby, Ohio 44094 on Friday, December 3 from 4 to 6 PM. with a service beginning promptly at 4 PM.
