Marilyn (Mills) Welty, age 91, of Willoughby, peacefully passed into eternal life on April 12, 2015 at Maltz Hospice in Beachwood. She was born to Herald and Florence Mills on December 17, 1923.
Marilyn graduated from Shaker High School and attended Ohio University where she was a Pi Beta Phi and homecoming queen.
Married to Cleveland attorney William A. Welty for 63 years, she lovingly reared their 3 children and was an active and caring presence to 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Marilyn poured her spiritual gifts, unwavering devotion, and compassionate heart into her precious family. Her warmth, beauty, intelligence and wit were prized by everyone with the good fortune to be part of her life. She read many 1000s of books and could hold a fascinating conversation on any subject. Never without "something good to read," she famously took a book along to an OSU football game.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Bill and grandsons Brian and David, and is survived by children: Molly Hastings (Barclay), David Welty (Beth) and Patricia Jones (Rob); grandchildren William Welty (Kyana) and Steven Welty(Sarah), Megan Jones (Colin), Ryan Jones and Katy Jones; great grandchildren Shannika, Lexie, Chelsea, Zariya and Troy; many beloved members of her extended family and treasured friend Harry Bigelow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to your favorite charity.
A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, June 13th at 1 PM at The Church of the Angels, 12550 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, OH 44026.
