Marjorie L. Beck died January 10, 2010 at her home after an extended illness. She was born in Cleveland on July 10, 1920 to Rudolph and MinnieGrundmann Ganschow. She attended Cleveland Heights schools and graduated in 1938 from High School. She graduated in 1942 from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio with a Bachelors in Home Economics. She taught at Erie and Cleveland Heights - University Heights high schools before raising her family. She married Arlington B. E. Beck, Jr. of Tiffin, Ohio on June 9, 1945 after his service in the Navy during World War II. She was active as an officer of AAUW American Association of University Women and Heidelberg Alumni Association. She enjoyed and taught ceramics and enameling. She worked for the Heights YWCA as a program director and South Euclid -Lyndhurst Office on Aging in the 1970's through the 1990's. She was a member of the Church of the Saviour in Cleveland Heights, serving as Treasurer, with the Heights Interfaith Council, on the International Christian Youth Exchange committee, helping often in the church office, and as a one of the church's first Stephen's Ministers. Marjorie is survived by her son Stephen, daughter Connie, grandson Derek Beck and expected to be a great grandmother to Cooper in the next few weeks. She also is survived by her sister Elaine McQuate and her family. Marjorie Beck nee Ganshow age 90 of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Loving wife of the late Arlington B. Beck; dear mother of Stephen A. Beck of Camanche, Iowa; grandmother of Derek Beck Diana of Cincinnati, Ohio; great-grandmother of Cooper Beck; sister of Elaine McQuate John and dear friend of Elaine McKellar Terrance of Cleveland Heights. The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in her name to Heidelberg University Scholarship Fund, 310 E. Market Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, January 14 in the Chapel of Greenlawn Cemetery, 895 E County Road 36, Tiffin, Ohio. Interment to follow.
