Martha "Cookie" Cruickshank Mlakar
1921 - 2015
Much loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many
Au Revoir
Please - be not sad
If I should
Leave you all.
The call may come
At any time
But shed no tears
For me.
I have gone only
Through the open door
That leads on
Though I know not where
To some great - lasting
Adventure - of that I'm very sure.
My life has been a happy one
In spite of sadness and vicissitudes
Which come to all of us
At one time or another.
Tis how we meet our trials
That alone counts
In the long run
Our heads held high
A smile upon lips
Peace in our minds
And prayer - laid deep
Within our souls.
A kind and loving heart
Full of forgiveness
For all those who falter
In their steps
And trust - in those we serve.
The rest is in the hands
Of the Almighty Father.
My children - dear
And those that they have married
And their children too
All mean so much to me
Words can not show
The proudness in my heart
For all of them.
My friends - are also dear to me
And there are many of them
Tried and true
Over a long period of years
In this land and in others.
And so I say again
Shed - now - no tears for me
For I go happily
Into the great unknown.
