Mary Louise Roski, lovingly known by all as Maida died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89 on April 21, 2010. Maida was born in Buffalo, New York on June 25, 1920 to Mary Ellen Wolf Howes and Roger King Howes. She moved from Buffalo to Shaker Heights, Ohio as a child and resided there until 2004 when she once again moved to Marquette Manor in Indianapolis, Indiana to be closer to family. Maida attended Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio where she co-chaired her 50th class reunion and graduated from Flora Stone Mather College at Western Reserve University in Cleveland in 1942. That same year she married Captain Elbert W. Hyde. The couple had two daughters, Louise H. Wanzer of Indianapolis, Indiana and Mary Ann Stuart of Brookfield, Connecticut. Captain Hyde died in 1944 during WWII. In 1948 Maida married Arthur H. Roski and together they had three sons, Richard Arthur Roski of Davenport, Iowa, Franklin Howard Roski of Woodbridge, Virginia and Dudley Howes Roski of New Canaan, Connecticut. Maida was a librarian for the Beachwood School system in Beachwood, Ohio and the Cleveland Heights School System in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She was also a licensed Insurance Agent and together with her husband Art owned the Cleveland Insurance Agency in Cleveland, Ohio. Maida loved people and many organizations benefited from her time and talents. She was a PEO sister, a Regent in the DAR, past President of the Cleveland College Club, a loyal member of Kiwanis International and a faithful parishioner at Our Lady of Peace in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Maida?À?s family was the focus of her life. She is survived by her five children, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and her sister Barbara McDermott of Lewiston , New York. Maida was predeceased by her loving husband Art Roski and her adored sister Virginia Huegerich of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Maida was known for her warmth and her smile. She is remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and as a good friend by all. She was an accomplished bridge player, gifted at creating cross-stitch masterpieces and loved the game of golf. She never forgot a birthday, accepted all people for who they are and her love of family knew no bounds. She was graceful in life, peaceful in death and always a faithful servant of God. A mass of Christian Burial will be said in Our Lady of Peace, June 5th at 11 AM with interment following at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
