Mary Elizabeth "Molly" Dise nee Mercer, age 88 of Cleveland Hts., OH. Loving wife of Ralph Allen Dise; dear mother of Ralph Allen Dise, Jr. Kathy Korhumel, Russell Wyckoff Dise Jennifer Gale and the late Ann Mercer Dise; grandmother of Molly Ann, George Mercer and Eileen Alma. Molly was born on October 10, 1921 in Scarsdale, NY to Aaron Loveridge Mercer and Florence Grace Long Mercer. She had two brothers, Aaron, Jr. and Benjamin Long Mercer. The Mercer family moved to Cleveland Heights in January, 1938 when her father became president of the Cowles Detergent Company. In 1939, Molly graduated from Hathaway Brown School. She then attended Oberlin College from 1939-1943, where she was a Kindergarten/Primary major. Molly then became a second grade elementary school teacher from 1943-'45 in the South Euclid/Lyndhurst school system. Her talents were then put to use at the Lee Rd. branch of Cleveland Hts. Public Library as a desk assistant from 1945-'46. In 1947, she received a certificate from Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. She then began to work as a secretary to the assistant of the vice president/general sales manager of Master Builders Co. until 1949. For a few months thereafter, she worked for the executive vice president, Fannie May Candies, under the same capacity. When she married Ralph Allen Dise in February, 1950, her career transitioned into a homemaker. Ralph Allen Jr. was born in June of 1952, followed by Ann Mercer in 1955 and finally Russell Wyckoff in 1957. Tragically, Ann passed away on March 16, 1976, a victim of cystic fibrosis, at the young age of 20. Molly was instrumental in the fight to cure Cystic Fibrosis. Her efforts have touched many lives and will for many generations to come. Molly had been a longtime and very active member at Noble Road Presbyterian Church for over 20 years, serving as Deacon, member of Music and Worship Committee, church school teacher and a ten-year choir member. She was most recently a member of Forest Hill Presbyterian church, where she has served as Deacon, Elder, Stephen Minister as well as service on the Board of Church Growth. Molly's civic accomplishments include: ¥ President, Monticello Jr. High PTA, school year 1970-'71 ¥ President, Cleveland Hts. High School PTSA '73-74 ¥ President, Cleveland Hts. Ð University Hts. PTA Council, '77-78 ¥ Executive vice president, Project Friendship, 1982; trustee for three years ¥ Served on the Cleveland Hts. committee for "The Year of the Handicapped" ¥ Served on the Board of Trustees of the CF Foundation and of Sixty-Five Roses Molly's memberships included service as Regent from 1983-'85 and again from '87-89 of Charter Oak Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists. She was a Regent from 1990-'92 of Moses Cleaveland Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also served as chapter program chairman, 1986-'88 and vice regent, 1988-'90. She served on the Board of Trustees and also as president of Forest Hill Swim Club, and from 1993-'98 as president of her Oberlin College class of 1943. She was a member of Arts and Flowers Garden Club and past co-president of Heritage Dance Club. Molly enjoyed world travels with her husband. The family prefers that those who wish make contributions in her name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 4635 Richmond Road, Cleveland, OH 44128-5938. Memorial Services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, August 7th at Forest Hill Presbyterian Church, 3031 Monticello Blvd, Cleveland Hts., OH.
