Nancy Cutting Young, age 80, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 9th, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of John Cremer Young for over 50 years, loving mother of 5 children and dear sister to Malcolm MacKenzie Cutting. Everyone adored her vivacious personality, friendly heart and sparkling eyes. Her cookie jar was always filled with home-made chocolate chip cookies and her garden with delicious vegetables and beautiful flowers. She enjoyed playing the piano, bridge, and mahjong, participating in her book clubs, dancing at Fork and Fiddle social club, needle point, evening walks, travelling and entertaining friends and family. Her happy birthday greetings and welcoming spirit will be missed by many. A native Clevelander, Nancy graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1948, was a member of N.N.C. Sorority and voted the most outstanding female graduate of her class. She graduated from Skidmore College with a B.S. in Business, in 1952. She had a lifelong dedication to serving her community, church, patriotic organizations and garden clubs. In Cleveland, she served on the board of the Junior League of Cleveland, Inc. and received the Sustainer Award. She was past President of: The Women's Advisory Council of the Western Reserve Historical Society, Shaker Lakes Garden Club received the GCA certificate of appreciation, Junior League Garden Club, Cotillion Society of Cleveland and The Intown Club. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, serving on the Alter Guild for over 40 years. Nancy was the founding president for the Richard Cutting Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the XVII century, a past-president of the Moses Cleaveland Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists and New England Women. She was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, The Dames of the Court of Honor, Daughters of the Founders and Patriots, and the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company. Over the years, she worked for Richard Hawley Cutting and Associates, The Shaker Youth Center, Case Western Reserve University and was a realtor for Hackett and Arnold Realty. Mostly, Nancy is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, sister and daughter. The love of her family brought the most joy to her life. She is the cherished mother of Elizabeth Jean Young Boles of Chagrin Falls, OH Edgar Howard Boles II, MacKenzie Cutting Young of Euclid, OH Martha Nicoline Ness Young, Alice Marguerite Young Klug of Greensboro, NC Darrell Todd Klug, and Heather Hawley Young Wiehe of Sewickley, PA Oliver Grant Wiehe and the late John Cremer Young Jr. Deceased 8-24-65, and her 11 grandchildren, Wendy Boles Gordon, Edgar Howard Boles III Michael Stephen Terrien, Mary Hawley Boles Kraatz Eric Corwith Kraatz, Elizabeth Anne Boles, Dietrich Cremer Klug, Alexander Leonard Klug, Marshall Anthony Klug, Travis Grant Wiehe, Elizabeth Nancy Wiehe, Spencer Baird Wiehe and Grace Hawley Wiehe. Nancy was the loving daughter of Richard Hawley and Jeanie McKenzie Cutting deceased, devoted sister to Malcolm MacKenzie Cutting of Novelty, OH Sara Gill Cutting and loving aunt and cousin to many. The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in her name to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2747 Fairmount Blvd., Cleveland Hts., Ohio 44106, where a Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 16th at 11am.
