Patterson Barnes died peacefully Tuesday, July 16, 2013. Born August 26, 1932, to parents Ruth Patterson and George Merrifield Barnes of Cleveland, Ohio. Pat graduated from Choate School and attended Stanford University before entering the United States Air Force Cadet Program. Pat was a commissioned U.S. Air Force officer and aircraft commander flying for the Military Air Transport Service throughout North America, Europe and North Africa. After leaving the Air Force, Pat graduated from Western Reserve University. He was employed by Eaton Corporation and pursued a variety of entrepreneurial ventures throughout his professional career. He was a trustee of University Hospitals. Pat was an avid collector of Stearns automobiles and meticulously restored many to pristine condition, winning multiple awards nationwide. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Anne Motch Barnes; his three children, Linda Barnes Higgins, Julia Patterson Barnes, and Benjamin Patterson Barnes; his sister, Ruth Barnes Fiordalis; several nieces and nephews; and six grandchildren: Avery Stearns Alatis, Thomas Wilson Higgins, Sarah Anne Higgins, Anna Patterson Barnes, Daniel Wilder Barnes, and Georgia Shay Barnes. Private Services were held graveside at Lake View Cemetery.
