Paul Henry Prasse
Died peacefully September 11, 2024, at age 89. Beloved husband of Marilyn Merts Prasse for 59 years. Predeceased by his sister, Betty Stevenson, and their parents Ann Brown and Paul H. Prasse.
Paul grew up in South Euclid, graduating from Brush High School and John Carroll University. He served in the U.S. Army, rising to Captain in the Army Reserves, and later attended Northwestern University.
Paul worked as Vice President with Society National Bank, Transohio Financial Corporation and later with Republic Properties. In 1978, Paul and Marilyn bought Ohio City Tavern, working together entertaining their many friends and followers.
Throughout his working life, Paul served many community nonprofits, including for Marilyn when she was chair of the White Elephant Sale for the benefit of the Cleveland Botanical Garden. In their retirement, Paul and Marilyn had the time to follow their passions of entertaining friends, worldwide travel and gardening.
Paul was proud of his roots in South Euclid, with his father serving as the first clerk of the village following its 1917 founding, and the Civil War service of his grandfather Frederick Prasse and great-uncle Frank. His maternal grandfather, John Brown, served in the Boer War.
Paul is survived by his wife Marilyn, his nephew Kent Stevenson, his many nieces, nephews and cousins of the next generation who are spread across the country, as well as his friends and caregivers at Beachwood Commons.
