Phyllis Beatty

Phyllis Woods Beatty, age 95, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, January 4, 2013. Phyllis was born October 20, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie Woods. Her early years were spent in Stonewall, Manitoba, Canada. Upon her return to the Cleveland area, she attended the Andrews School for Girls. She was the wife of the late Howard Bruce McCamey and Robert Dunlop Beatty, Jr. During her children's high school years, she attended the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing where she excelled in all phases of her nursing studies. She worked for many years in private practice, University Hospitals and later at Huron Road Hospital. She was active in both PTA and also at the East Cleveland Congregational church, where she held numerous positions of responsibility. She will always be remembered as the matriarch of her immediate and extended family and to all those who called her "Mother". She is survived by her son, H. Bruce McCamey Lorry of Jacksonville, Florida and her daughter, Joyce Ann Butze of Shaker Heights, Ohio. She is also the dear grandmother of Meghan McIlroy Chris, Brenna Huovie Chad, Kenneth Butze Tracy, Kelly P. Kelly, Hallie Stewart James and Brandt Butze Naomi. She was the dear great-grandmother of Thirteen. A family graveside service was held at Knollwood Cemetery.
