Phyllis Probeck Brandon passed away peacefully at her home on April 13, 2017. Phyllis was born on April 30, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in Vermillion, Ohio, and Shaker Heights, Ohio. She was the daughter of Sarah (Sally) and Robert (Bob) Probeck. Phyllis graduated from Shaker Heights High School, class of 1949, and Northwestern University, where she met her husband of 62 years, Edward B. Brandon. She is survived by her five children, William M. Brandon (Lauren Stannert Brandon), Robert P. Brandon (Beth Wain Brandon), Beverly B. Marzullo (Chris Marzullo), Beth B. Webster (David B. Webster, deceased), and E. Matthew Brandon (Laura Hahn Brandon), and her beloved fifteen grandchildren. She also is survived by her sister-in-law Betty Breaw (Richard Breaw, deceased), niece Barbara King (Thomas King), nephew Jeff Breaw, and two great-nephews and a great-niece. After graduating from Northwestern, where she majored in education and joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Phyllis briefly taught at an elementary school in Chicago, Illinois. Phyllis and Ed eventually settled in Shaker Heights. Phyllis was an active member of Church of the Saviour in Cleveland Heights, managing the church's thrift shop and teaching Sunday School for many years. She also was involved in numerous Shaker Heights schools' PTA activities and a trustee of Recovery Resources. Phyllis was an avid reader and history buff, and relished her trips with Ed all over the world. She loved all things beautiful, and had a special talent for creating homes that were lovely and elegant, but also warm and welcoming, full of art and color and always bustling with people, pets and activity. She especially cherished her large family and wide circle of friends, many lifelong, and will always be remembered for her easy laugh, sense of fun, and boundless generosity. The family will host an open house at their home, 38555 Hunting Hill Dr., Hunting Valley, OH, on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Family Memorial Services will be held.
