PRICILLA BAKER CROSS, Age 91, passed away April 5th, 2013.
She was the beloved wife to her late, adored husband of 63 years, Frederick S. Cross, MD, PhD.
She was the dear mother of Leslie Cross of Stony Brook, NY; Barbara Cross (Roy Call) of Bratenahl, OH; Laurie Cross (Gerald Knorr) of Seattle, WA; Steven Frederick Cross of Olympia, WA and David Cross (Lucia Bowen Cross) of Wilton, CT.
She leaves eight cherished grandchildren; Jocelyn (Moses Shilongo) and Matthew Jungers, Jesse, Daniel and Joanna Cross-Call, Samuel Cross-Knorr and Lucia and Amanda Cross.
Priscilla was born at home in Minneapolis, MN, November 15th, 1921, to Dr. Ernest L and Ethel Bliss Baker. She attended Marshall High School of Minneapolis and Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH, where she met her husband, Frederick, and graduated in 1943. They were married while he attended The Western Reserve University Medical School in Cleveland, OH. After his internship in the US Navy and surgical residency at the University of Minnesota, they moved to Cleveland in 1953.
Priscilla was active in her church and her community. At Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights, she was a deaconess and served on the Church Council.
She worked sixteen years as troop organizer and troop leader with the Girl Scouts of America. She was active in the Shaker Heights PTA, serving as a school President.
She served, and was a two-term president of the Junior Board of The Friendly Inn, the Women's Board of St. Luke's Hospital and she was a past President of The Village Garden Club.
She was a member of The Moses Cleaveland Chapter of The Daughters of The American Revolution and The Ezekiel Richardson Chapter of The Colonial Dames of The XVII Century Club.
She was a member of The Cleveland Skating Club and The InTown Club. Priscilla enjoyed theater, symphony, travel, tennis, skating, skiing, canoeing, gardening, cooking, sewing, and everything connected with family.
The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in her name to The Judson Palliative Care Fund, c/o Judson Park, 2181 Ambleside Dr., Cleveland, OH 44106; Oberlin College, 101 N. Professor St., Oberlin, OH 44074, or Plymouth Church of Shaker Heights, 2860 Coventry Rd., (at Weymouth Rd.), 44120. Where there will be a Memorial Service, Saturday, April 13th at 10 AM.
Interment will be in Lake View Cemetery.
