Bruce also served during the Korean War. He had a stateside post as a Fireman in Norfolk, VA.
After serving in two wars, Bruce attended William and Mary and VPI, graduating with a degree in civil engineering in 1950.
Married to Barbara Newman Beale in November of 1958, Bruce returned to Cleveland working as a civil engineer for Penetryn Systems. He enjoyed a long career as a civil engineer and later as a production inventory control specialist at Rockwell Automation until his retirement in 1997.
A longtime resident of Cleveland Heights, Bruce lived in his home on Ashton Road from 1962 until shortly before his death.
Bruce was an active member of the Church of the Saviour for over 50 years. He was a member of the Kingsley class and collated the church bulletin every week for many years.
Bruce remained active in his retirement. He was an avid bridge player, playing in several bridge groups, most recently at the West Geauga Senior Center. In addition to playing bridge, Bruce loved to read and was a Civil War buff. He was a member of the NE Civil War round table for many years. Bruce was also a very enthusiastic student at Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR), taking classes in a variety of subjects.
Although very busy with his interests, Bruce's greatest joy remained time with family, in particular his three grandchildren; Graham, Sydney and Muze.

"Betsy" Beale of Los Angeles, CA; dear grandfather of Graham and Sydney Cashier and Muze Beale; dear brother of Frank "Bill" Beale, (Virginia), Ann Wilmer and Patricia Lawrence; dear brother-in-law of William Newman (Sarah) and Arleen Damon (Paul Glynn).
