Ruby A. Abbott Hausley of Chicago, Illinois. Beloved mother of the late Jasminius Wilsoni Rudolph JWR Grandy, IV. Cherished grandmother of Jasminius Wilsoni Rudolph Jay Grandy, V. Dear sister of Joe L. Hausley of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Barbara Davenport of Teaneck, New Jersey and Mildred McCleave of Greensboro, North Carolina. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews. In recognition of Mrs. Abbott's great commitment to education the family is establishing a Scholarship Fund. Contributions should be made to RUBY ABBOTT SCHOLARSHIP FUND, P.O. BOX 4547, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS 60699. Mrs. Abbott will be laid to rest in the Mausoleum Chapel at Lake View Cemetery. Flowers are not permitted to remain in the mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Abbott requests you make a donation to the or Cleveland Church of Christ, Citadel of Hope Ministries Endowment Fund, 1035 E. 105th St. Cleveland, OH 44108. Ruby A. Hausley Grandy Abbott was born in Chatham County in the state of North Carolina to the late Archie and Obeata Hausley. At a young age she joined Geese Grove AMEZ Church and has remained a member and an active supporter. She was recently re-baptized and recommitted her life to Jesus Christ the Apostolic Church of God in Chicago, Illinois, where she lived until her death with her beloved niece Doris C. Lowry and her husband James. Mrs. Abbott was educated in the public schools of Chatham County and received a B.S. Degree in Education from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. She also did further study at John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio and at Cleveland State University. She received certification from the State of Ohio in the following areas: Mathematics, Business Administration, Social Studies and Secondary Principal's Certification. She taught in the Asheboro City School System in Asheboro, North Carolina for 3 years and in the Cleveland Public School System for over 40 years. During her 40 plus years, she has served on various school related committees i.e., Text Book Adoption Committee, Attendance Committee, National Honor Society, Mathematics Club and many others. Mrs. Abbott served as Union Building Chairperson for 3 years and has been a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Greater Cleveland Chapter and the National Council of Mathematics. A memorial service will be held at Brown-Forward Funeral Home from 1 to 2 PM on Saturday, October 9.
