Sally Simmons

Sally Hodge Brasfield Simmons,age 50, passed away in her Chagrin Falls home on July 12, 2014, after a courageous 14 month battle with brain cancer.

She was the devoted mother of Tyler Webb Simmons and Connor Philip Simmons. Sally is also survived by her parents, Emily Hodge Brasfield and Philip Herman Brasfield, Jr.; by her sister, Julia Wood Brasfield: and by her Significant Other, Kevin Dale Wiese.

Sally graduated from Laurel School in 1982. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University in 1986; and her Masters Degree in Business Administration from Duke University in 2002.

Sally began her professional career as a Marketing Communications Intern for Nestle, S.A. in Vevey Switzerland. She then worked as a Marketing Manager for The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. In l998, she accepted a position at The Duke University Health System as Director of Strategic and Clinical Services Planning.

She returned to Cleveland in 2006, where she served as the Vice President of Marketing for University Hospitals.

She returned to The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2008, finishing her career there as the Senior Director of Strategic Planning.

Sally was most especially a loving Mother to her sons, Tyler and Connor. She enjoyed traveling and any activities that involved her boys. She enjoyed fine music, beautiful colors, a hike in the woods and playing with words. She also took great pleasure in mentoring others who were just starting their careers.

She will long be remembered for her warm smile, quick wit, and generous spirit.

The family prefers that those who wish make contributions in her name to 'Blast Glioblastomas', 2383 South Main Street, Akron, Ohio 44319 (website: www.blastgbm.com ); to Laurel School, 1 Lyman Circle, Shaker Heights, Ohio 44122 or to The Church of The Western Reserve, 30500 Fairmount Blvd., Pepper Pike, OH 44124, where a Memorial Service will be held, Sunday, August 3rd at 2 PM and where friends may call Thursday, July 31st from 5 to 7:30 PM.
