Thomas J. Stazzone age, 82, was a man larger than life. The world became a sadder place on Monday September 23rd when he passed away at his home with the woman he has known since junior high school Doris Stazzone. Tom better known as papa was born on April 12, 1931 to Ann and Angelo Stazzone in Cleveland, Ohio.
Upon the untimely death of his father, a young Tom Stazzone became the head of the household. His sole job became taking care of his mother and younger sister Mary Ann. He graduated from Cleveland John Adams High School in 1950, and worked as a window trimmer for Higbees. In 1952 he was drafted into the Army, and served his country during the Korean War. That same year he married the love of his life Doris Ineman .
After returning from duty, Tom worked for a prominent florist in Shaker Heights. During this period in his life he and Doris also became parents to Lynn and Loren. With a young family in tow and a healthy amount of ambition Tom decided to leap from the cliff and become a small business owner; opening Flowers by Stazzone in 1960. Flowers by Stazzone became known for its top of the line customer service for over 50 years. Tom himself would go out of his way to make sure his customers were not only satisfied but felt important. Tom knew that building a good rapport with his customers was key to Flower by Stazzone's success. Tom went to work everyday up until his sudden illness in July 2013.
Tom loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved his granddaughters Tyler, Jordan, and Kirby. Tom loved taking them shopping for clothes, and offering them advice. In his spare time he was quite the entertainer. He was known for and loved orchestrating the best parties. He was recognized by many as the Godfather for always putting himself in position to help others. He wouldn't expect anything in return, and this is what made him unique.
