Thomas Elliott Walker , Jr. of Copley, OH., and formerly Shaker Hts., passed away Sunday, August 1 after a long bout with cancer. Son of the late Thomas Walker and Ruth Walker nee Harvey. Dearest brother of Judith Walker Phelps and the late Wendy Walker. Uncle of Cynthia Phelps Chaplin Will and Stephen Phelps Kim and great uncle of Olivia, Samantha, Vanessa and Clarissa Asher. Raised in Shaker Hts., Mr. Walker attended Shaker Heights High School and entered the US Army in 1961 and served in Germany and Korea. He has a certificate of continuing education from Case Western Reserve and was participating in a psychology program thru the University of Phoenix. His previous experience in the food serving industry was renowned and included positions as Chef, Executive Chef, Management and ownership. Since 1999 Mr. Walker was employed as a chemical dependency technician and counselor at Edwin Shaw Hospital in Akron, OH., where he managed a Men's Residential House and Adolescent Treatment Program. He also has a certificate of Merit for contribution to the success of Quest Recovery Services Residential Treatment program in Canton, OH. Mr. Walker was a long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous and formerly active in The Founder's Day Celebration held annually in Akron. He was also a previous supporter of the Akron Symphony Guild.
